Radio over Fiber — Simplex emitter

UHF over optical fiber,
compact and plug-and-play.

The FTX-1 is a compact simplex Radio-over-Fiber emitter. It converts a UHF electrical signal (470–690 MHz filtered, or 0.1–3 GHz unfiltered) to a 1310 nm monomode optical signal. Integrated active-antenna DC feed on the BNC, XLR4 power, two input modes, 33 × 33 × 110 mm form factor. Compatible with every BSRF RoF receiver. Made in France.

Highlights

Two input modes

High-Sensitivity mode 470–690 MHz filtered/amplified +12 dB to pick up faint HF signals; Low-Sensitivity mode 0.1–3 GHz unfiltered with 0/−10/−30 dB attenuation to accept a transmitter up to 50 mW directly.

RoF linearity

32 dBm typical OIP3, noise figure < 2 dB: RF-to-optical conversion preserves the dynamic range and cleanliness of the original signal across the link.

OIP3 32 dBm · NF < 2 dB

Integrated antenna DC feed

The input BNC carries remote power toward an active antenna (Vin/200 mA): a single coaxial run from antenna to FTX-1, no second power line.

IP / rack integration

33 × 33 × 110 mm, aluminum, XLR4 power: the FTX-1 mounts in an outdoor enclosure, on a mast or near a rooftop antenna without drawing attention.

Standard monomode fiber

LC/APC 1310 nm output at 1.5 dBm: compatible with any monomode patch cord on the market and with every BSRF receiver (AFR-250S, AFR-200, ACH-642, ACH-862).

Use cases

Long-distance antenna offset

Route a rooftop antenna without coax loss

UHF antenna → short BNC → FTX-1 in High-Sens → monomode fiber back to studio → AFR-250S or AFR-200 on reception. No line amplifier, no 0.4 dB/m loss.

HF video / camera feed

Carry a wide-band camera signal over fiber

Low-Sensitivity mode 0.1–3 GHz with −30 dB attenuation: plug a camera transmitter's antenna output (up to 100 mW) directly and carry the signal over fiber back to the control room.

Remote measurement

Capture an RF spectrum hundreds of metres away

Measurement antenna → FTX-1 → fiber → FRX-1 → spectrum analyzer. Complete galvanic isolation, total immunity to EM disturbances along the run.
